I’m sitting down here in the basement and one of Barbara’s grandkids had a question for me. She told me not to get offended, and immediately in my mind I’m going “oh great”.

“Do you believe in Jesus?”

Should have seen that coming. Barbara’s entire family is like.. hardcore Catholic so I’m pretty sure none of them have had much exposure to atheists like me. On my about me page I state that I make some of the good things about my religion a big part of my life anyway. I’m a really nice guy, despite most religions painting atheists as evil people. Nevertheless, I didn’t lie and proceeded to answer her question in the negative.

“Not just a little bit?”

Typical modifier of a younger person. This usually happens out of disbelief. I once again answered her question in the negative.

“Are you scared since you don’t believe in Jesus?”

One thing that most theists don’t get is that atheists don’t believe in heaven or hell. When I die, I die. Game over. Goodbye. Kaput. If it’s of my own stupidity, that’s what I get for doing something stupid. Once again, I answered her question no.

“Okay, just asking.”
