Traffic spike; Linux woes; LiMPtop

I like how I have blog posts with three main topics and the semicolonated (is that a word?) titles. Let’s get right to it. The past couple of days, this very blog has had an incredible spike in traffic. After investigating I’ve found that it’s likely related to the recent release of Pidgin 2.2.0. You [...]

So once again, I was all like ‘I want a credit card’ and Capital One said… wait… they said yes?!

I lamented a while back about ChevronTexaco denying me a gas card. Apparently my credit sucked or something. It must be getting better, because I managed to get instant approval for a Capital One card earlier. I have to admit, that feels good. Now for a solid year of charging a few dollars a month [...]

US passport woes; Greased Lightbox; rain

Today I went to the post office to apply for my United States passport. How awesome is that. I’ll be able to leave the country and just swipe that thing. (This also means that if I get the money, next summer I am totally going to a Brad Sucks show in Canada.) Here’s the bad [...]

Pidgin 2.0.2 with MSIM; internet woes; DrewBurden.com is finally complete

The Pidgin developers are on the ball. They released Pidgin 2.0.2 and I’ve countered with a new version of my unofficial MySpaceIM-enabled Win32 build. This one has version 0.7 of Jeff Connelly’s protocol plugin. (A lot more stuff actually works in the newer version. Still no word on if the login process still fails on [...]

Pidgin 2.0.1 with MySpaceIM Support

You folks may remember that a while back I posted an unofficial build of Pidgin with MySpaceIM support. I’ve compiled newer versions of Pidgin and Jeff Connelly’s MySpaceIM protocol plugin and packaged it up. If you were getting a 260 error message whenever you tried to login before, it’s still an unfixed bug. If your [...]

We’re back online

All my apps on drewburden.com were down for about a day, due to a DNS issue. I think I have that straightened out, all the stuff like MySpaceDP and XMLTopFriends should work now. I finally have DrewBurden.com moved to another server, and all of my sites except the PodMedia sites are off the Common Tech [...]

Status report

I’m still in the process of getting all my web sites off the Common Tech server. Here’s what I got so far: geekchat.us: Moved to WordPress.com. You’re reading it, duhhh. fragforjes.us: Moved. Now it’s on a dinky little server on a cable internet connection in a closet in the office building I work in. This [...]

New wireless router

I went out and bought a Belkin F5D7230 from Wal-Mart. (With cash, of course.) So now I can enjoy full-speed transfers. Only problem is now, is that Time Warner’s DNS is hellishly slow. I’ll fix that, though.

Update on Tom’s MySpace hacked-ness.

Apparently, it’s generating quite a buzz. I guess the buzzing came to be so loud that someone had to Digg it. If you read the comments you will also find a nice treat — the location of Tom’s actual personal profile on MySpace, if you’re into that sort of thing. Digg – MySpace’s Tom’s Profile [...]
