Since this is the first time I’ve done this, I’ll just tell you that I’ll write a short paragraph followed by a link for more reading.

Okay, so if you read my blog, you know I’m not a big fan of Tom Cole (guess the party-OK) and the NRCC for obvious reasons, see my post “Another political BS-fest” for details. But now Tom Cole is stumping for Brett Guthrie (also guess the party) in Kentucky and said that Barack Obama will not help David Boswell in the U.S. House race. Uh… what? So you’re saying that a guy from Boswell’s own party running for president at the top of the ticket won’t help him win? Something about the pot calling the kettle black, what? Anyway, he spews a lot of BS, about which I may go deeper on later. – NRCC Chair sees Obama weighing down Boswell

I’m not as partisan as you think, really. I have a lot of respect for a lot of prominent Republicans, for example the likes of Chuck Hagel and Gen. Colin Powell, who, unless you’ve been under a rock you know endorsed Barack Obama yesterday. I’m not so concerned about his endorsement of Senator Obama as much as I was his passionate and driving denouncement of Islamophobia in the United States. On NBC’s Meet the Press with Tom Brokaw on Sunday, Gen. Powell expressed disappointment at his party’s continued shift to the right, running the Bill Ayers thing into the ground and dropping hints lying about Sen. Obama’s religion. He told the story about a U.S. soldier who died in Iraq who was a Muslim. You really must see the video to get the full effect. – Powell rejects Islamophobia

So today, I saw a bunch of spam posts on Facebook about Yuwie, yet another social networking site that (supposedly) pays you a cut of the ad revenue they make on your profile views. I Googled it to see if it was real, and lo and behold, it was…

Either way, after watching this lame intro video begging me to sign up and highlighting the good things about Yuwie, I decide to give it a go. My first thought is, there are a shitload of ads on this site. And there really are. They give you about six offers when you sign up that you have to skip, and then you get to upload your picture. Ads are frickin’ EVERYWHERE on this site. A lot of them even talk to you, which is annoying. I better get a hell of a lot of money out of this.

The whole incentive with Yuwie is to get pageviews. Blogs, pictures, anything you make. It counts. This is like the perfect haven for those MySpace whores that go around annoying everyone. The object of the game is to draw attention to yourself. Maybe since I’m on the playground, I might as well play. Yuwie will be the perfect place to let loose what little MySpace-whore-like instincts and urges that I have, which will hopefully make anyone that’s on my friends list on MySpace (all 28 of them) happy. It guarantees them that I will not do a damn thing to bother them on that site.

As I was writing this blog entry, my phone went loco (“ZOMG YOU HAVE 9 MFIN’ NEW EMAILS WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING TO ME?!?!??!?!!1!!1!!!!1one!~”). Six friend requests, which I had accepted, a comment, a message, and this email from AT&T telling me about their customer service. When I got the first four friend requests, I mass accepted them (hey, this is Yuwie, I’m making money here, who cares if I know them or not) and by the time that was done, I had two more. I’m on track to have about a million more by the time I’m finished making fun of Yuwie.

I do like that you can completely customize your profile and even import RSS feeds (hint hint, MySpace). Yuwie doesn’t really have to bother telling their users not to cover up the ads because the ads make the users money.

Overall I guess Yuwie isn’t that bad. I guess it’s a wait-and-see kinda thing on whether or not I ultimately make some money from this thing. Oh, and if I get people to sign up I get some of the money from your pageviews too, so give it a shot. My referral link is http://r.yuwie.com/nedrubwerd – sign up and we’ll see if any money is made together.

They’re an intensely popular DJ duo from London. Hal Ritson and Cameron Saunders. Separately, they’re regular guys. But together, they call themselves The Young Punx. One of their tracks were in the FIFA ’07 game from EA.

Either way, they have new music. This is the title track to their new album, “Your Music Is Killing Me”. I like the music and I really like the video, by Han Hoogerbrugge from the Netherlands. What makes the video appealing to me is the Hoogerbrugge style and the fact that there are very few cuts. Most of the video consists of panning one camera.

I strongly suggest you give the video a watch.

This is the new mashup. Music player and web browser. Convenience to the max. It looks eerily like iTunes but I guess that’s to be expected. I also don’t like that you can’t right-click in the browser window. Perhaps this will be fixed by the final release (eh, Songbird devs?) Overall, it’s a great use of the Mozilla codebase. It’s been called the Firefox of media players, which is sort of obvious because it basically is Firefox with a media player in the chrome. Silly tech reviewers, crack is for drug addicts!

It’s already a good piece of software, but I would wait to install it until the final release. But since I’ll forget to drop a link at the final release, I’ll just do so now.
